At SQEP, our strength comes from our people. Through advanced training, mentorship, and hands-on collaboration, we cultivate strong teams, deep expertise, and a culture where operational excellence is the standard.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Scott Longmuir, BEng (Hons), MSc, CEng MIET MSaRS, on his promotion to Principal Safety Consultant – a well-deserved milestone in an already impressive career. Scott began his engineering journey as an Avionics/Electrical Technician in the RAF, progressing through roles as an instructor and Engineering Authority, and has since contributed to major defence programmes spanning Chinook, C17, Hawk, and wider air domain projects.

Scott recently completed his MSc in Safety-Critical Systems Engineering from the University of York. His research explored how integrity and assurance processes can be applied to machine-learning-enabled systems – proposing new ways to tackle AI and ML challenges in defence and aerospace.

“Completing the MSc is a point of personal pride. I wasn’t in a position to go to university at the typical age, but through my RAF career I completed my Engineering degree in 2017, and after joining SQEP I was fortunate to be offered the chance to pursue the SCSE MSc. It’s highly challenging and has strengthened my understanding of applying safety principles to complex, highly regulated systems.” Scott Longmuir, Principal Safety Consultant, SQEP Ltd

Scott’s journey shows how investing in people transforms capability into real-world impact. His expertise in safety cases, airworthiness, hazard and risk analysis, and emerging technology assurance turns technical complexity into clear, actionable strategies, giving clients confidence in both their systems and teams.

“Scott’s MSc and promotion reflect not just his personal capability, but SQEP’s commitment to building world-class teams. He’s a key part of strengthening our Safety capability and delivering real, tangible value to our clients.” Paul Mayo, Founder & Managing Director, SQEP Ltd
