Context
SQEP’s engineering team are currently delivering vital airworthiness and certification assurance for the Chinook CSP, supporting a major defence customer. This project highlights SQEP’s expertise in multinational frameworks and commitment to compliance in the defence sector. The customer needed robust airworthiness and certification support for the Chinook CSP, introducing advanced Chinook helicopters via a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement. The programme requires securing a Military Type Certificate (MTC), Type Airworthiness Safety Assessment (TASA), and initial Release to Service (iRTS). Integrating a US-designed platform into UK regulations demands rigorous certification and safety expertise.
Our Approach
SQEP provides end-to-end programme support, focusing on certification, safety, and airworthiness. The team has developed and refined certification artefacts, managing compliance with Defence Standard 00-970, and representing the customer in key technical and safety meetings. Requirements capture, traceability, and architecture views are delivered using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
Delivery
Operating under an FMS framework, SQEP uses an agile delivery model to achieve high-impact results. The team reviews compliance evidence, verifies system integration, and ensures all deliverables meet formal acceptance standards. Integrated safety and certification delivery streamlines support and enhanced efficiency.
Outcome
SQEP is recognised as a trusted partner for airworthiness and certification on Chinook CSP. The team’s work to date has enabled the customer to progress a multi-billion-pound programme, reducing certification risk, improving stakeholder confidence, and accelerating delivery timelines.
