On Wednesday, SQEP’s safety experts Jim Mateer and Scott Longmuir attended the AI Security Institute (AISI) Industry Day in London, focusing on the UK’s advancements in safety and security within AI, particularly Large Language Models (LLM).
Jim Mateer, SQEP’s Systems Safety Director, shared his thoughts on the rapid growth of AI technologies: “AI capabilities have improved by nearly 3000% since 2020, but with this rapid growth, there was universal recognition that the risks of misuse have also escalated. Currently, there are no reliable methodologies to prevent this misuse, and a significant gap in mitigation strategies has occurred.”
At the event, the SQEP team shared their insights in discussions on Control and Alignment, Safeguards, and Criminal Misuse of AI, offering valuable perspectives from their expertise in safety assurance and risk mitigation within highly regulated sectors.
Scott Longmuir, SQEP’s Senior Safety Consultant, comments: “As AI continues to evolve, we’re committed to staying at the forefront, ensuring AI systems can be deployed safely and effectively.
