We’re delighted to welcome Dr Andy Quinn PhD MSc CEng MRAeS to SQEP Ltd as Principal Safety Consultant & Head of Space Business Development.
Across a 40 year career, Andy has helped organisations navigate complex safety challenges across military aviation, aerospace and the space sector. Beginning his career in the Royal Air Force as a technician, he progressed through flight engineering, engineering officer and Aviation Safety Group roles before moving into specialist safety consultancy, supporting increasingly complex aerospace and space programmes.
Andy’s specialist focus on space safety began during his MSc in Air Safety Management, where his thesis explored the safety of Virgin Galactic’s spaceflight participants. He continued this research through his PhD, developing expertise in the safety challenges involved in enabling commercial space operations.
His work has supported projects and initiatives including SKYLON, Spaceport Cornwall and Virgin Orbit. He has also contributed to the development of UK spaceflight capability through safety and regulatory studies for potential spaceport locations with the Civil Aviation Authority and UK Space Agency.
Andy’s appointment at SQEP enhances our safety capability. His experience will strengthen the specialist support we provide to our customers, while helping develop our expertise within the space domain.
