On 14-15th May, our Environmental Consultant, Ella Flanagan, represented SQEP Ltd at the Sustainable Skies World Summit 2025 at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre. The event brought together leaders from government, industry, and academia to explore practical solutions driving the aviation sector toward a more sustainable future.
Throughout the day, Ella engaged with discussions on:
- Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF): Exploring strategies to scale production and infrastructure.
- Carbon Removal: Innovative approaches to offset and reduce aviation-related emissions.
- Zero Emissions: Advancements in hydrogen propulsion and electrification technologies.
- Operational Efficiency: Enhancing flight operations to minimise environmental impact.
- Future of Flight: Emerging aircraft designs and propulsion systems shaping next-generation aviation.
She also had the opportunity to meet with researchers and innovators, fuelling new ideas for how SQEP can keep supporting forward-thinking change in the aerospace sector
We caught up with Ella after the event to hear what stood out most:
“One keynote that really stuck with me came from Paul Touw, OTTO Aviation’s CEO,” says Ella. “Their approach to redesigning aircraft for aerodynamic efficiency (instead of relying on fuel alternatives) was genuinely exciting. By combining innovative airframe design with SAF, they’re showing that emissions can be cut by almost 80%. That’s the kind of forward-thinking that the industry needs more of.”
With so much energy and innovation in the room, we left Farnborough inspired and with even more drive to support sustainable change in aviation.
