Funded by academia and research organisations, the client is working to address the world’s urgent, complex and dangerous operational challenges.
SQEP was initially asked to support within the safety specialisation, to help to navigate the complexity of civil certification for Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS). To meet this need we hand-picked John, one of our Principal Safety Consultants, who we felt was a perfect fit for this enthusiastic and innovative company.
Working with the engineering, certification and operational teams, John’s deep practical approach enabled him to identify the priority activities to support approval by the CAA for the trials flying of the product. Our client’s team, having appreciated John’s pragmatic approach, quickly embraced him as part of the family, where he helped to bridge the gap between the functional safety activities, operational safety needs and the requirements of the CAA for approvals.
Our insistence on providing the right person for the job (in this case, John) enabled the streamlining of the client’s safety engineering activities, assuring a comprehensive and compliant Operational Safety Case for submission to the CAA for trials activities within unsegregated UK airspace.
